As of today, I’ve officially begun NaNoWriMo, otherwise known as National Novel Writing Month!
At the start of this past summer, I vowed to start and finish my next book. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite happen. I got about 65 pages in and stopped cold.
I need a reason. I need a motivator. I need NaNoWriMo.
- To write an entire book during the month of November
- To write at least 1,500 words every day
- To not stop, to not spend time gazing into the screen, to just WRITE
- To not revise
- To go full-steam ahead
- To finally realize my vision
- To push myself past my limits
- To achieve my goals
- To wait and see what comes out
- To love and value this exploratory new process
- To hope for the best
- To dream
- To write
- To write with love
- To write with conviction
- To write unbridled
- TO CONQUER NaNoWriMo!
This process will be difficult, no lie. But I have some support. Thanks to Dinah and Nic, I should be able to make it through unscathed. Though I’m sure there will be lots of bitching. And cheesecake. Plus, Nic and I have vowed to workshop, critique and edit each other’s pieces once the month is through. So: motivation!
I’m open-minded. I’m willing to let the process explore me as I explore this process.
Wish me luck! Also, wish Steve luck, because I’m sure he’ll be on the receiving end of my grumpy demeanor over the next 30 days…
As it is, Steve has already (jokingly) begged me to spend time with him instead. But being the best boyfriend that he is, he absolutely understands that I need to write and he’s incredibly supportive.
Then again, it’s only Day One.
BUT today alone, I’ve already exceeded my word count, y’all! I’m up to 2,100 words! I’ve written one complete chapter and two segments of two different chapters.
I’m a writing BEAST.
NaNoWriMo IS MY BITCH.
I’ll review my full process in December and hopefully have lots MORE to tell!!
Full speed head, NaNoWriMo-ers!
